We use a $13,000 machine that was specifically designed to permanently repair the issue that causes the red ring of death ( RROD) on Xbox 360's and the lellow light of death (YLOD) on the PS3's. According to the company, by reflowing the motherboard with this machine, your game console should never develop the RROD or YLOD. This is of course assuming that you don't cram it into a tight space. Our machine does all the work, preventing human error. The people out there who are doing this on a smaller scale are using cheaper equipment which requires more human involvement, increasing the likelihood of making a mistake. Also, these machines do not heat the BGA to a precise temperature so you don't know if you are soldering the BGA correctly. It's somewhat of a guessing game.
